BOF the Skoda - what do I really think of the Superb?

Featured Replies

Thanks for sharing. Nice review.

FWIW re the technology trickle > Audi > VW > Skoda, recently the Skodas seem to be getting the same tech as VW at the same time.

Thanks @digifish

thanks for info on tec flow too - having spent too long as one of Range Rovers unwitting Beta testers I’m just glad to have stuff that works 🙄

Ah, but seeing as Range Rover owners don’t like to admit just how horrendously bad their vehicles are, they now claim that failed or broken components are actually a characteristic. Lol. Glad your enjoying your superb.

😂 Yes it’s not easy to admit to such an expensive mistake..

the first 700 miles were fantastic, thereafter a nightmare. 9 trips in 3 months to have various fixes (or not fixes) led to the first ever vehicle I had to reject...

I think if you get a good one, they are great. But a troublesome one will never be right. Certainly seems to be the case on the RR forum I used to frequent.

Fantastic big wagons to do miles, in pure comfort.
Also one of the only vehicles I’ve seen getting a new engine during a PDI 😄
workshop still averages 3 engines a week under warranty.
my last Mercedes was more or less just as bad. 10k in parts in last 5yrs.
my stress levels have probably dropped by about 75% since I bought the Superb. And long may it last.

We have several owners of JLR products in the office, Land and Range Rovers.

They know their dealers well and are constantly discussing what the latest issue is.   I just don't understand why they go back for more.

The last car was my third Skoda and not up to their usual standards - had both Aux coolant pumps changed under warranty.  Replacement should arrive in September.

With my particularly problematic Range Rover, it got to the stage where the workshop manager would collect the car on his way to work and leave me with his company Discovery, and drop my car off when it had received the latest fix..I got to know Simon pretty well!

why did I keep going back for more punishment ? I guess it is because when everything is working, they are great. But sadly you spend all your time waiting for the next inevitable fail.

Which is why I sold the car I replaced the rejected one with - it never had a problem but I never fully trusted it and so after a year of owning it I PXd it for the Superb and some money back to me..and have been much happier since!

shame @IJWS15 that you have had a couple of issues with the latest car, fortunately issues with the Superb seem to be the exception rather than the rule.

The Superb was my third Skoda.  First was a 2008 Octavia that covered 96 k miles in four years and apart from me bending it a couple of times the only non-wear related item I recall was the bonnet release handle coming loose  (not fitted properly) and the second(2015) was faultless if you don’t count rodents eating pipes over 2 years. A fourth due next month nth
