Columbus gone blank...

Featured Replies

Hi all

Hope you're all keeping safe and well in these weird times.

I was out for a drive last week when I noticed that my Columbus screen had gone blank.  However, the connection to my mobile was still there (I was listening to a podcast) and volume can still be controlled from the steering wheel, and the unit in the glovebox still accepts CDs / DVDs.  I've tried holding down various buttons on the unit to try and reset, to no avail.  Thinking it was a fuse, I found that "touchscreen and TV" are on a 10A fuse behind the glovebox - I've changed this, again to no avail.  What else would cause this?  I've not done anything I wouldn't normally do.   It's a 2016 model, so the older Columbus with physical buttons, as compared to the newer bigger all touchscreen models.  If it's any user, it's an L&K so has the Canton and TV Tuner.

It's due an MOT, so if we draw a blank I'll ask them to investigate.

Thanks everso!

Stay safe!

Hi,

I had this 2 or 3 times (on a MY2017). Eveything came back in order after a complete engine shut down, which rebooted the Columbus.

Didn't it happen the same way on yours?

Nope - I've been out for drives a few times since this happened, still blank and still only able to listen to what I'm playing over bluetooth.  I'm guessing (hoping) a loose connection somewhere, or even a fuse on the back of the screen (if they have them?).  Not a clue - I'll mention it when I call up the dealers later for booking my MOT.

Hard reset should be holding the power button down for 10sec or so. Quite common issue on VW vehicles. Sometimes solved with a software update.

Tried that - but will try it again when I next go out to the car.  I may also disconnect the battery for a little while and see if that helps.

No worries. Wasn’t sure which buttons you’d actually held to try at first. Was going to say a battery disconnect for 30mins and then connect again, but your already thinking that way already.
