Water under car - is this sunroof drain water?

Featured Replies

Got back to the car this evening to find a puddle of liquid. Checked, it's definitely just water so not super worried.

But I am curious where it could have come from. It was further back than the engine - approx under the driver's footwell.

Our car is an L&K with the pano roof - would this be drain water?

More likely condensed water drained from the A/C evaporator housing, I think.

Is your Air conditioner in use? This produces some puddles

This was my first thought, but:

  • I'm sure the usual water trickle from A/C is normally towards the front of the engine bay, isn't it? Pretty sure there's no A/C components in the region of the driver's footwell although happy to be proved wrong!
  • Car had been sat for at least an hour and I'd have expected any A/C water to have evaporated

Not from the evaporator housing, no, 'cos that's inside the cabin.

Not sure about Yeti, but the evaporator is usually central, just cabin-side of the firewall.  Look in the engine bay at where the refrigerant pipes go through into the cabin, the evaporator will be close to there.

..I thought the front sun roof drains exited via channels in the door recesses?...or perhaps I have had a brain fade?..
