Hello from Australia

Hello everyone, I'm from Australia and have just signed for a brand new MY20 Octavia wagon, in quartz grey. This will be my first Skoda, though I have swooned over the Occy since around 2014.

Coming from a 2007 Ford Focus TDCi with 6sp manual transmission, I was actually hoping to buy a manual Octavia, but unlike many parts of Europe, manuals are extremely rare down here with new cars 😞

I actually had the contract for the "last base-spec manual in the country" emailed through to me to sign, but sadly it was sold through another Skoda dealership interstate before I had a chance to sign and return the contract. Skoda AUS came to the party, so to speak, and have since offered me a DSG equivalent for the same price (a $2500 "upgrade" as they put it). I've accepted and will get 18" Alaris wheels, tints, carpet mats, 7 years warranty and 3 years free servicing, so a pretty decent deal in the end.

Unfortunately, with the current COVID situation, Melbourne is in "stage 4" lockdowns which prevents the dealership from having new cars transported from the docks...so I won't be seeing my new car for at least 3 weeks.

Very excited though, my Focus was close to being a new car (only had 15,000kms on it when I bought it) and has given me 12 years and 220,000kms of relatively trouble-free motoring.

Hopefully I get just as good an experience with the new Octavia!!
