Was it difficult?

Not particularly but you need the car pretty level to accurately refill the haldex.

Does anyone have a rough idea how much a VAG specialist would charge to change the Haldex oil/filter on a Superb? And presuming mines never been done do you think at 157,000 it's probably toast?

The place I use in Glasgow have a fixed price of £149 which includes oil, new filter and de-mount the pump to clean the strainer and new o-rings.

A new pump is circa £170 quid + labour to fit.

If you can get a code reader I would read the codes on the car to check the Haldex pump isn't already toast and then budget to replace whatever is needed.

When I had to replace mine (thanks Skoda!) I bought the pump, oil and filter from the site already mentioned and handed these to my chosen garage to fit.

Hopefully with regular proper servicing I won't need the pump done again.

The haldex had an oil change recently by myself, no history in service book of previous maintenance regarding haldex, same with rear diff.

Are you 100% sure that it was the Haldex oil that you drained?

Where exactly was the drain plug located?

Did you remove the pump to clean the filter?

How much fluid did the refill take?
