mk2 tfsi ECU Problems - who can help

Featured Replies

Hey guys sorry about the long post.

I only recently got my VRS but have encountered some problems and figured this was a good place to research as i have already learned so much buy reading through old posts. There has been a lot of good advise to similar issues by Shark Performance so i figured id contact them only to discover they no longer seem to be trading. Below is the message i was writing them before i discovered they were not active or maybe being a new member i am unable to PM yet but would be very grateful if anybody could help or point me in the direction of someone who can help.

Hi,

I am having some problems similar ( but different ) to this post https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/155671-new-ecu-required-really/page/2/ and am at my wits end trying to figure it out  and wondered if you may be able to help.

I have added a list of fault codes i have obtained using obdeleven to scan the vehicle at the end of this message . The symptoms i am getting which are progressively getting worse is the car is running very lumpy on start but and keep having esp and traction control lights coming on dash, the car seems to be in a limp mode and down on power not reving past 2500rpm  and cutting out more and more regularly.

If I  pull over and restart car or scan and clear codes car might run ok for 5 - 10mins and will then flash warning lights again and go back into limp mode.

At this point we have fitted the following from a know work running car but to no avail.

  • accelerator pedal
  • throttle body
  • Cam position sensor and actuator

My next step this evening is to remove the ecu and check for water damage but not hold much hope as all other features seem to be working ok.

I only have the car a few weeks and have covered about 1000 good miles in it before this started, I know the car is definitely remapped by a previous owner but i don't know by who or what has been changed.

I wonder is there a way i can tell if there is a software update for the ecu or weather you think it would benefit from being re flashed and if this is something you could do if i was to send you the ecu.
