Can anyone help, 52plate 1.9 tdi auto box playing up. Great in all forward gears but select reverse and wait for it 4 or 5 seconds and bang , its in reverse. Apparently the oil is for life. What is life, the car is on 230,000 miles and running like a dream apart for the issue mentioned. No means of checking or filling gearbox, does anyone know how much oil the box takes, Thanks in anticipation.

Well, ZF Transmissions say 100_000 miles and they've forgotten more than I know!

 

What I do know is that used ATF stinks to high heaven and back, so it's worth getting a local garage to do this job for you!

I thought it might be an oil issue, but no drain or fill level so i need to know the capacity and somehow drop the lot and fill with correct amount. Skoda dealer can check level with their equipment, but thats going to be a rip off. Appreciate your help,
