Clutch pedal problems

Featured Replies

Picked the ex Demo Octy Sport up last night and noticed a few times that the engine seemed to be reving freely if I really put my foot down, It was rather heavy traffic so didn't think much of it until I went to pull away in a queue and the car would not go into gear and I had to roll to the side of the road with my hazards on

I found that the clutch pedal was stuck down, after lifting it back with my foot everything was ok again but occasionaly it does the free reving thing and when I check the pedal isn't all the way up so it must be the clutch slipping if I put my foot down too much.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I think its just sticking on something but I'll ask the garage to take a look

I had a similar problem on a old car, clutch cable kept breaking on the car. Then found out they had re-routed it due to the cable being prone to snapping. Was something to do with going from Left to Right Hand Drive.

I'd take it back to the dealer since they sold a defective car as such. One thing I would say is that the clutch may well have taken a real beating as it's been on a demo car and that is a sport so will have got lots of harder driving at a guess.

Hi Mate

Clutch master cylinder.

Common on those cars

Just lift the pedal up and it will be ok for a while

booked into the dealers on thursday morning to look at, tried pulling the pedal up and its been ok but want it looking at to make sure

A relatively common problem on the 'old' Octavia cured by a modified clutch master cylinder. I would have hoped the New Octavia would not inherit the same problem.

What are the sysmptoms that show this master cylinder problem and do you know when the modified part made it into production cars?

only had the car 6 days and its back at the garage for the second day running, apparently they have spoken to skoda's technical department who still don't know whats wrong with it so they have to take the whole clutch out meaning I won't get the car till possibly monday / tuesday.

That leaves me 6 days after buying a nice shiney octavia diesel witha 1.2 fabia sport for the whole weekend :(

Ok now sorted! something to do with a hydralic bearing and some hydrolic fluid contaminating the clutch

brand new clutch and Clutch cylinder apparently... they also sorted out the rattles...

Drives like a dream now,

Just out of interest though does anyone know what that would have cost had the car not been under warranty?

Probably about £3-400
