Release door lock barrel from module

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.  Thanks lot for help on previous post. I have now got stuck trying to replace the door lock module on driver side.

I have removed door panel and screws on side of door to release module. Also removed screw holding barrel. Yes I know I shouldn't have removed it but it fell out😪 now I trying to detach the barrel from module. I can see the cable with a sort of flap at one end. However I cant see the clip or whatever it is at other end. How do I detach the barrel from module. Feel a right twit that I have got so near to removing it and can't.  Thank you!!

dude/dudette don’t worry about it. Now I don’t feel like so much of a daftarse because I came here to ask the very same question.

I’m trying to replace the door lock mechanism, can’t figure out how to get the barrel out, dropped the screw door the door, can see the black clip but I’m fooked if I can get it detached. It’s a mk1 1.8T I’ve got (well it’s the Mrs, I drive a popemobile berlingo, she picked up this vrs last week but I’ve been borrowing it a lot lol.

I ended up having to put it all back together because I ran out of daylight. I’m up just now at 5am, listening to the rain and stressing over the fact that I don’t want to get soaked by trying the process all over again just to get stuck at the barrel. I’ve got the replacement actuator here ready to go on just need the old b#%^%#d off. Did you figure out a way? There has got to be a way that involves less profanities and mood swings surely?

This is in the Fabia section, you have an Octavia, although should be similar......

Assuming you have door trim off and carrier removed to access the lock, there is no mention of the barrel.

I’ve screwed it up.

the door is now deadlocked. I openable from outside nor inside.

the door card was kept off in case something like this happened. It was closed to test whether it would work or not after the changeover. Thank you for the information by the way, it helped a lot.

do you any idea how to get this deadlock off? I’ve already smashed my way into the casing of the NEW locking mechanism to access the gearing, I’ve tried turning the gearing but it remains deadlocked. Any other ideas?

wanna know what my problem turns out to be? Corrosion on pins 7+8 of the 8-pin wiring loom connector. 🙄🙄🙄 not only that, pin 7 was bent flat in the old locking mechanism, I’ve straightened that up and checked whether it worked and it did (this was with the lock off the car but powered up, you could put the key in and turn to open and lock all doors but remote isn’t working to lock and unlock the drivers door only. Lazy lock/global unlocking/windows down and up (whatever you wanna call it), that worked today with the key for the first time.

Major problem -

Drivers door deadlocked shut,  all other doors fine.

Minor problem -

would it be easier replacing the 8 pin connector which connects to the lock mechanism instead of replacing the entire wiring loom in the door? Corrosion within connector.
