Non-OEM reverse camera with trajectory or dynamic guidelines

Featured Replies

As the title says, I know that on a superb 3 you can purchase a £15 camera from Aliexpress without any special hardware and it works out of the box after wiring. Only downside is, that it doesn't have the guides. Does anyone know of a similar, but with trajectory / dynamic guide lines?

The OEM camera, high line, is relatively expensive compared to this, so just exploring options

You can probably get an aftermarket one for around £40 or an OEM one for around £75.

You might want to take a look at the thread in the Octavia section as both styles are shown:

Thanks for that. Aren't those just static lines? What about where the guide lines change with the steering wheel?

Which one?

The one Weyland fitted is certainly described as "dynamic trajectory" and aliexpess link states "It will read the command from CANBUS system of Car Computer and control the camera on/off and parking line moving". I expect their steering wheel was straight when they took the picture, if you ask I'm sure they can add some more pictures showing the fully functionally ;)

The OEM one I fitted definitely shows dynamic/moving guide lines, it can do all four modes mentioned in the owners manual:

- traverse parking
- parallel parking
- driving up to a trailer / distance monitoring
- monitor the area behind the vehicle (wide view)

Quick picture showing the lines having moved:

Thanks for linking to Weyland's excellent guide. I love the plug and play aspect of that kit.

The AliExpress ones linked do have dynamic lines. One I fitted to a Octy here and I’ve done 2x Superb’s.

Check your boot handle size before you order, if it’s got a rounded edge like this car had thats handle B, if not and it’s a rectangle, handle A.

Hi, can anyoue confirm if this works on 2018 mk3 Superb Estate with Bolero head unit, no satnav, but front and rear parking sensors?

Just checked and it looks like the image attached, so I guess I,lol have to get the A type. Just the Chinese descriptions are a little misleading, it says superb 17-19.

Not trying to sound jealous but will I have everything @langers2khas, i.e. what's in the owners manual for

- traverse parking

- parallel parking

- driving up to a trailer / distance monitoring

- monitor the area behind the vehicle (wide view

No. Only OEM has those views. You need MQB handle A.

@SashaGrace thanks. Assuming that then it will need to be coded in.

@langers2k you mentioned being able to get it for £75 for oem? Can you please point in the right direction, struggling to find anything round that price

Sure, as mentioned in the other thread, I purchased from AiDU Auto on aliexpress.

- Octavia/Superb kit: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000197729171.html

- Tiguan kit with washer jet: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33012092397.html

If you choose the Tiguan kit, make sure you mention you'd like the Superb parameter file and be wary that the washer jet pipe may be too short.

Fitting is slightly more involved than the aftermarket kit, mostly as there is no quadlock plug-and-play adaptor on one end and it'll need coding afterwards. I'd definitely recommend grabbing some loom tape to keep things neat as it's not pre-wrapped.

It's only six wires and it'll be the same wiring diagram as I added to the other thread, just depends how comfortable you are with wiring :)

I can’t add anything to that, I’ve bought plenty from Aidu Auto, always very satisfied with their stuff.

Good job, a nice upgrade. Did you fit it yourself and how did you route the wiring from through the rear hatch?

Fitted myself and routed cable thro rear drivers side pillar into rubber umbilical gator, did this side as already got an extra cable in passenger side because rear dashcam previously fitted. Then tucked cable in to roof lining and over to rear passenger side and again along roof to front as already knew procedure from rear dashcam cable installation.

Congrats on retrofitting the camera. Did you need to do any coding or was it one of those plug and play cameras?

Just plug and play working straight away when engaging reverse gear with no coding at all. MQB camera type B in my case.
