CD stuck in player

Featured Replies

Hi again all.  The CD player in my 2005 mk II will not eject the disc; when I press eject, it waits for a few seconds then says 'CD ERROR' on the display.

It's Queen's Greatest Hits, so it could be worse, but all the same it'd make a change to have something different on.

This happened when I first bought the car a few years ago, but after a month I tried it and it ejected fine.  Then it was fine for two years.  But this time, it has been stuck since March!

Any ideas?

Is there a little pin hole to manually force the disc out? No car CD player to check now, just an SD slot.

Take a look at this thread from pos 2 onwards:-

Thanks for that; will give it a go.

Well tried the credit cards, and no joy.

It's pretty hard to see inside anyway (not least because of the felt at the top and bottom of the CD entrance), but playing the CD to get it spinning and shining a torch did help me see where it was.   Whilst I could get a card on top of it there was no chance of getting one underneath.  Plus when I pressed eject, it didn't sound like it was "trying".

The cause is usually someone has put (forced) two CDs in the same slot. There is a how to do it video on here somewhere showing how to take the unit apart to fix stuck discs. Do a search using the search function at the top right or, If unsuccessful, look on YouTube.

Thanks, I will look.

It's definitely just the one CD.

I tried something I read about elsewhere, which was to press 'eject' and the audio power button together for ten seconds, but that just brought up 'SAFE' on the display and a kind of crackle through the speakers for a second... but no CD.

  • 1 year later...
