Error code 00370/PO172 Octavia vRs tfsi

Featured Replies

Running out of patience and options here. Hope someone can help. I've researched the error code and I know it could be a few things.

The car is struggling to start unless I step on accelerator, it has white smoke and misfires when start cold.

When driving, it hesitates between 2-3000 rpm but after that it is a rocket.

The jolt when this happens is quite violent and it happens in every gear.

Just to mention my Octavia is an ex police car, and I've heard they are re mapped?

Is this true?

I've had a full service and oil change, compression test and all fine.

Really don't know what to do now, anyone able to offer advice on where to start.

Love my car, only bought it 2 months ago and this is driving me crazy. Please help.

Thanks in advance.

Okay - P0172 - comes up as "Fuel Trim, Bank 1 - System too rich"

00370 - comes up as "Right front Shock Absorber hard"....

I suspect that something is up with the fuel/air mixture.

Ross-Tech state the following possible causes:

  • Fuel System
  • Excessive fuel pressure
  • Leaking or contaminated fuel injectors
  • Leaking fuel pressure regulator
  • Low fuel pressure or running out of fuel
  • Vapour Recovery system
  • Air-leaks after MAF
  • Vacuum Leaks
  • Improperly seated Dip-Stick
  • Stuck EGR Valve
  • Oil Overfill
  • Cam Timing
  • Cylinder Compression
  • Exhaust leaks before or after HO2S Sensors

White Smoke - you might want to take a look here for reference: https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/102502/car-exhaust-smoke-what-do-the-different-kinds-and-colours-of-smoke-mean

I had hesistate from 3000 - 3500rpm then its boost.  I notice that it not as much since i changed the Diverter Valve.

Thanks for replies so far, I've got it booked in with an auto tech on the 28th, he seems to think it's a "Vacuum seal" or some sort of air flow issue.

I've bought it from a dealership so I've checked my rights and it seems I'm protected under the consumer rights act for 4 months, so if they don't fix it I will have to reject the car.

Have you used Autotech before?  I requested a quote for a water pump change and they were expensive compared to the rest.  Autotechnik took the p*ss with £750 parts & labour.  Got it done for £350 locally.

Hello, I am having the same issues with my mk2.5 vrs. Did you ever get it sorted?

  • 1 year later...

Same issue at present if anyone can shed some light incase I've missed anything as all the sensors appear to be working and I can't find any vacuum leaks after replacing the PCV.
