Leaking Panoramic Sunroof 2016 L&K 4x4

Featured Replies

Hi -  I've owned Skodas since 1999 and in Aug 2018 bought a 2yr old L&K 4x4 (8.5k on clock) - now 25k.

Long story short January 2020 noticed soggy o/s footwell (Yep! - went on internet and saw loads about leaking pano roof) -took it to main dealer who blamed replacement windscreen - had that checked and nothing wrong with it - March they diagnosed "distorted pano roof frame" with a £2.2K repair bill - I started arguing with Skoda UK that it was clearly either a design or manufacturing fault and no fault of mine (Warranty expired Aug 2019).

Covid came along and Skoda UK eventually offered 20% off as "goodwill gesture". Spoken to Motor Ombudsman who said they would investigate but would take 6 months - car had to be repaired with wet weather coming so refused 20% offer (Ombudsman will not take on case if you accept an offer) and had repair carried out - now got 2 year guarantee on that work.

What I would be interested in is whether any members have actually reported this fault previously to Skoda UK or know of numbers of reports of this fault that Skoda have received as the stock response seems to be that it's the first time its been raised.

Many thanks!

I believe SKODA have had leak issues with sunroofs across the range for the last decade, not that they-will admit it as usual.

Mine was removed, repaired and resealed at the dealers under warranty. 2017 L&K.

Thanks!

logiclee - what was the fault which was diagnosed by the dealer prior to the repair being carried out? - I ask because warranty repairs and the reason for them would feed back to and be recorded by Skoda UK  which would then show prior knowledge of a fault.

Many thanks!

That looks familiar!! I also had water coming through the sunroof control panel and into the rear view mirror! Did they diagnose a distorted pano roof frame?

Didn't give full explanation, just remove, repair, reseal.

Bill would have been around £1400 they said.
