Is my MAF on its way out?

Featured Replies

Hi all. I picked up my skoda vrs wrc on thursday dinner. I absolutly love it.

But, Struck it up this morning, let it warm up, then went for a drive. When i put my foot down, there was no turbo. Couldnt hear it whistle and it felt slow.

So i pulled over, turned the engine off, got out and had a quick look but couldnt see anything. Got back in, drove off and i could hear the turbo again, and the power was back.

Does this sound like a maf fault.

Cheers

Dan.

P.S, Does any one know when the cambelt is due

Cheers.

Nope, sounds like a common fault that is totally random and seems to have no cause.

Most of us have done cambelts around 75k though its not due until later on. Do the water pump at the same time as its cheaper to do it during the belt change and they are known to fail.

Have this fault myself,

seems to happen for no reason,

if in first of second, you can hear the turbo spinning up, but no power,

the DV is fully open.

Just takes a few seconds with the engine off to fix it,

have been known to do it at lights.

no ideas why it does it,

maybe once a week for me?
