Adaptive cruise control retrofit feasibility and analogue dials

Featured Replies

Hi,

I wonder will it be possible to add adaptive cruise control after sales? In the price list that option's price is suspiciously low 350 euro in my country (8T8 -option code)

The new golf has this option as a software upgrade even after sales.

Also  has anyone have an Octi 4 without virtual cockpit but analogue dials (pic bellow)... I would love to see a video that version for the speedo cluster.

Thanks.

Hey there,

Happy to see a fellow from the same corner of Europe.

I was thinking the exact same thing when I was ordering my MK4, but then I used the configurator. It forces you to add another type of steering wheel that has the button apparently. So I would say, sadly - No. Otherwise I would add it.

It makes sense that the radar is slightly different either.

No idea on the analogue dash. I think this pic is preprod, from when the car was still in testing.

I got to thinking and checked again...

They changed it. Apparently now, for the new cars, you can order it separately. I hope this means a software update is possible, but I doubt it, because when you have ACC you have a separate lever on the left hand-side which controls all of the cruise functions, plus a button on the steering wheel to set the distance.
The price list is different from 2 months ago, when I was ordering my car. This 8T8 option was not there at the moment, now it is.

I also tried calling my sales rep to ask if I can add it to the car, but apparently once they sell you the car they don't care to answer anymore.

Still.. hope remains.

Hi,

the switch is not a major part than the radar which I think must be the same part as VW that has it purely as an software addon.

As far as I know the Navigation is also just software unlock.

We just need a contact to a very well trained software/electrical service technician at Skoda ;)

I managed to reach my sales rep finally and he knows nothing about it. He says that it is unlikely, but I do not trust him.
I was trying hard to find out how it works with VW as there is a button on the steering wheel there too, so I wander if you order the car with the button, but it does nothing or the button is not there and you engage the ACC in a different way and set the distance via software only.
But VW's user manuals are accessible only with a VIN of the car, so I hit a dead end.

Only time will tell, but so far - things are not looking good.

I am trying to acquire a contact in Skoda to ask directly.

So, I contacted Skoda in the Czech Republic and they turned me down to call the local dealership, which is both good and bad.

It is good as they did not say it is completely impossible, but the local Skoda dealership is far from helpful.

So, if anyone outside Bulgaria can give their dealership a call and ask if the ACC can be added post production - that would be really helpful!

A bit late but, you can ask the UK Skoda reps. They have  a nice chat. Also you can ping them via facebook.

Hello,

There is no a steering wheel button. It’s on the dedicated lever. But ACC requires navigation to be present. Also not sure about it working with manual gearbox.

ACC works with manual but obviously won't take you down to a standstill.

I opened a chat over Messenger as suggested by peshetoman

Unfortunately they say it cannot be retrofitted nor upgraded or whatever. I found a place where they retrofit ACC for the previous models of Octavia and Golf, which both have auto breaking, the camera, the radar and stuff, but it is not that simple apparently as the radar is different and requires re-calibration for ACC as far as I saw.

What is weird is that lane keep assist is also not possible to add post factory, but why - beats me.
