Problems after replacing spark plugs

Featured Replies

Hi everyone. I was hoping for some advice. After replacing my spark plugs in my 2013 MkII Fabia Vrs, the car has developed a couple of issues.

1. it now idles at 1200rpm while in neutral and will only ever really drop to normal levels whilst in gear and standing still.

2. Approximately 10-15 miles worth of driving after doing the service. My engine management light has come on. The car drives fine and there appears to be no sign of misfire or any other nasties. I've reseated the ignition coils and checked for any plugs or pipes that I disconnected as part of the work. All appear to be fine there too.

Any ideas or thoughts would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance

CTHE engine

used NGK Laser Iridium Premium gapped to 0.7. (I've read tehy should be 0.6; But I didn't have the correct tools to re-gap them. but I did check that they were all the same gap size).

Welcome,

such a common issue after the plugs are replaced.  Common even with Dealership Techs doing the job.

So you need to check the O rings on the Turbo Pipe and the pipe connections and be sure you have not punctured any.

Hi, finally got around to checking the work I'd done.

Thank you for your advice.

I found the issue. I'd managed to pull a pipe off that connects to what I think is the turbo breather at the back of the engine. After lots of 'f' words and fishing the little rubber part from the engine bay. I managed to reconnect it.

Cleared the errors and now all is good.

Certainly feeling the difference as I suspect that I was running on the original plugs which had done 45k.
