Alarm LED Driver's Door

Featured Replies

I apologise for my ignorance ... please excuse me.

I had some minor damage to my driver's door repaired that required the removal of the door card.  But now I have noticed that the LED for the alarm is not working.  I have removed the door card and checked the connector to the LED ... all OK.  I have also checked the alarm ... working OK (or at least the motion sensor is).

I quite like the LED as a discouragement to potential thieves, especially when I have my rather expensive mountain bike in the back of Betty the Yeti, so I would like to fix the light.

So my question: is all the electrical system on the Skoda Yeti 12V such that I can just buy a cheap 12V car LED light and connect it to see if the LED has failed?  Although my car is a UK car, I live in Italy (where the bodywork was done) and not many vehicles here have the alarm fitted, so the technician that repaired the car may not have disconnected the LED light when the door card was removed, thus potentially damaging the LED.  Also, taking it back to the repair shop is a bit of a pain, especially with COVID restrictions.

Thanks for any assistance.

The Yeti is notorious for the wiring between car and door failing anyway on earlier cars. Disturbing it to repair the door may have broken the led wire

Ok thanks for the response.  Is all the wiring 12V? i.e. no 5V LEDs?
