Hi all I got an Octavia vrs and the cable snapped on the drivers window, since I have replaced the panel with the new cables the airbag light has been on. Any ideas. I have disconnected the battery for a bit to see if it would reset, and its still on. I have disconnected the yellow plug under the drivers seat also and it goes off for a couple of seconds but then comes back on. 

Airbag light always seems to need VCDS or dealership equivalent to reset. It's one of the few that doesn't go away when the fault is resolved. 

Is that why my obd reader never picked up a fault I wonder 

Lots of non-specific fault readers will only talk to a limited number of control modules.

SRS (airbag) is not an OBD system. The Generic OBD systems are limited to engine/transmission/brakes. These are made generic so for legal reasons the authorities can read DTC information regardless of which vehicle. But manufacturer specific modules such as Airbag, Infotainment, comfort systems etc. will use a unique address and language that an OBS reader won't see or understand.
