Overheating problem

Featured Replies

Help please!! I have a 2014 Octavia estate, 2litre turbo diesel, 4x4 , 54k miles. It's started overheating at speed (70/80mph). After a few miles the gauge shoots up & alarm goes off, I've stopped & physically checked - coolant level is fine, engine & rad do not feel or smell hot. Start again & temp falls , speed up & rises again. Perfect around town, never a problem. Have changed temp sensor but still occurring!!

Suggestions/advice please.

Could be the waterpump, it's a common issue on the earlier TDi's:

I would put money on it being the water pump.  At that age and miles it's worth getting the cambelt done at the same time as it has to come off anyway.

Yes - get the waterpump changed.  What you are experiencing is the early stages just prior to complete failure.
