My brother had many nice company car's before he retired last year but only had one stolen without keys taken from his house which was a Vauxhall Cavalier GSi used for ram raiding local shops for booze and fags.

Even when I borrowed some very expensive customer cars (for a fun weekend, think Ferrari et al) from my former employer (automotive consultancy) there were no concerns about parking them beside my garage at home where they were clearly visible.

As part of my job I attended several vehicle security conferences, which is where I learnt how much hype and so little fact there is about aftermarket security add-ons :tongueout:

I've spent a bit of time with each brand in the VWG these last few years and the comments about the desirability to steal a skoda vehicle are spot on.

At VW and Audi there'd be at least a couple of instances a month where customers would have an attempt made at having their car stolen. We'd be replacing lock sets for fun.

At Audi in particular we had our own demo, courtesy and on-demand cars stolen on the regular.

We had customers parking their car outside other people's houses only to find out later their house had been ransacked looking for the keys for said car too.

It seems that should you own the likes of a Polo GTI, Mk7 Golf GTI/R/GTD, S3, RS3, Q3/5/7 or Leon Cupra the there's a good chance someone will try to take it off you.

I've only heard of two skodas being taken in recent years: one that shared a driveway with a Golf R that they were after and the other was the result of stupidity (left the keys in the ignition).

I've discussed this with customers in the past and the sad fact is you can spend £1000s on a garage, CCTV, big gates, security posts, alarms, trackers etc but all it takes is a them to catch you off guard just as you turn up at home from work or just as you get in the car in the morning.

You can't have nothing these days ☹

It seems a good solution is there any similar solution in my Country " France" do you know it  Auto watch ghost is available here? that coould be the solution a PIN code using your entire dashboard clever idea :)

Is car theft a 'thing' in France as in UK?

admittedly my 'maison secondaire' is in the sticks, maybe larger towns and cities?

no one wanted my Skoda...left the keys in ignition for 3 days last year  :giggle:

slightly OT but i'm surprised the piles of Bois de Chauffage never go missing

Cat theft etc is probably more likely on a Skoda right now.

Scrotes aren't daft, they run the risk Vs reward maths through their minds first.

Even if they are looking at your car as a target you only need to do enough to make them think it's not worth it, so big obvious lock round the steering wheel and some stickers with 'tracker' written on it.

If they are hitting you in the street they want to do it quick and quiet. If they can'y they'll move on.

If you getting hit at home, give em the keys  and step back.

We recently had several cars on our street "tagged" to be stolen. The owners woke up and found black spray paint on them and the rear plates had been painted over. Then a few days later a couple of lads were spotted wandering round cars parked on the drives, having a good look. They ran off when challenged and not seen them since, although the police have done a few slow crawls around.

There was a Golf Mk7 and an Audi (A5 I think) marked, along with a 17 plate Seat Leon. Strangely they also marked a 10 plate Astra.

However, the much newer cars on the road (19/20 plates) from the likes of Peugeot, Citroen, Skoda etc weren't touched.

Hello Guys So Since December, I Finaly Received my New Car a couple of days ago.

My Solution I think is to use this : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-AUDI-SKODA-SEAT-DUMMY-FAKE-OBD-PORT-Anti-Theft-Security-OBD2-Guard-LOCK-/323407812862

A Good Solution, but I can't find the way to Open the part behind the OBDII port on the car so i can replace it and put the dispositive ( Dummy port behind ).

Do you know how to open it ?

If you want a very good mobile deterrent then you can't beat the oldskool Disklok!

I'm afraid that speaking from the experience of living in a "nice" area with a high crime rate - if they want it then they'll take it.

I must agree with this, it's a great deterrent.

I used one on my BMW for 6 years, and have now migrated it over to the VRS 230.
