Skoda approved used vehicle check anomolies

Featured Replies

I have recently bought a 2018 4x4 karoq as an approved used vehicle from a dealer, and after taking delivery of the car have had to wait a couple of weeks for the paperwork to be sent.

The approved used checklist thatwas sent has some strange anomolies that are making me wonder if either the original paperwork was lost and replaced by a non engineer or if the car has actuallly had the correct checks.

The 4x4 drive shaft check section and heated seat options are marked as n/a (Not applicable) yet the car car has heated seats and is a 4x4.

It makes me wonder if the person filling out the report ever saw the car.

Any thoughts appreciated.

@Bluegrassviolin Welcome.

You could well be right, so who was the Registered Keeper, where did you buy it, was it given the workshop checks there.

Ask the Dealer Principal all the relevant questions, who, where, when and why,

The checks are only Safety Checks and could well be carried out by anyone with a NVQ, Overalls & a pen or hand held device.

Mis-selling or deception is serious and the Skoda Approved Dealers surely would not want caught doing that. (Well not more of them.)

Hi, I bought it from Slough Citygate Skoda dealership, but got a little suspicious on the delay in getting the paperwork,

particularly this report, to me.  The documents don't state who the previous keeper was.

My fear is that due to the covid crisis, some steps in the normal approved used process may have been skipped.

Lets be honest, the checklist is an important part of the confidence to buy from an approved used dealer, and with obvious errors in it,

I do feel rather suspect about its legitimacy ....

@Bluegrassviolin The V5 has the Registered Keeper, maybe VW Finance.

Due to Covid maybe Skoda & Dealerships have bucked up their ideas because there are some terrible cars that members have received as Approved Used Cars.

There are a few threads around the forum / in the General Automotive Chat Section.

So do you have the Service History and any Warranty History for the car?

Interestingly, the new V5 does not name the previous owner...It just states No. of former keepers , no other details.

I have a very basic printout of oil changes done...its a 2018 car, so only oil changes needed to date.

I don't have any warranty history.

I am awaiting further paperwork for the 12month warranty etc from Skoda head office.

?

How many miles has it done then, & is it on Fixed servicing at 9,400 miles / 372 days and due a service or was it on Variable so just a Service at 24 months / 18,000-20,000 miles?

Did it get a Pollen Filter change at this service if on Variable Servicing?

The Haldex Service will be due at 3 year old, as is the brake fluid change if you are having that done.

Its a 28,000 mile car...........and i can see it has had oil changes at 10k and 20k which suggests the fixed servicing schedule you mention.

I have no info about the pollen filter.

Interestingly its first MOT is due in April, and the dealer did not realise that is free under skodas approved used scheme.....i had to send them a screen shot from the Skoda

website to point that out.

Thanks for the info on Haldex service ...i'll makje sure to make a note of that.

If serviced to the Manufacturers Guidelines then the Pollen Filter might get changed, and a A/C service might get done.

It all depends on who was running it and who was paying and was the car on a service plan etc.

Skoda Approved Used cars are sourced from many places, fleet, lease, motability etc.

As it is there was not much to be inspected with the Haldex (AWD) other than giving a visual inspection when on a ramp to see no leaks and a road test could only show if there were noises or a feeling of something not right.

Fingers crossed that all is well and your ownership is a happy one.
