Hi Guys,

 

The engine light has come on dash and both VCDS and dealer have confirmed that the lambda sensor after catalytic converter has gone faulty.

 

How much I wished that it was the first lambda sensor as it would have been easy to access it from engine bay. However I am assuming secondary one will need access from under the car.

 

Whoever have done this before please share your experience and tips so it will be easy for me change it

 

Also can somebody help me get the correct part number for it please?

 

Car in question is a 2015 Skoda Fabia 1.2 TFSI

Maybe not the answer that you asked for but, from my experience of buying a Lambda sensor for a relatively "recent" model of car, I'd just buy from a VW Group dealership, they would get you the correct part and at a similar price if you bought the genuine but not VW Group branded same part elsewhere.

 

CCP (contact via facebook is best) will get you the correct part at a good price and it will be a VW Group part.

 

Before posting this, I looked up the NGK website as their NTK brand covers these sensors and is or was a VW group factory supplier, and these 1.2TSI 16V engines do not exist in their catalogue!   I found the same when checking up on the NTK part number years ago for a BBY engine, which I only found listed under SEAT, but this time this 1.2TSI 16V is not listed under any VW Group marque.

 

Was I correct in that this engine is a 16V and so its code is CJZC or CJZD ?

 

I think that the second sensor will be easier to deal with as it is out in the open so access is better, it is down stream so not subject to so much heat, also if it is the same as earlier cars, there will be a plastic box mounted on the body quite close to where the sensor is mounted on the exhaust, so the sensor lead will be quite short so handier than feeding it around the engine - that plastic box houses the plug<>socket for that sensor.

 

Edit:- just a thought, you have not run over something and damaged its cable?

Had a look this morning and It looks fairly simple to access it from engine bay. 

 

However parts cost is £165 for the secondary lambda sensor......whaaaat?!?! 

Had to replace my post cat lambda sensor on 1.2 TFSI last year - bought a genuine Bosch unit from eBay  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lambda-Sensor-fits-SKODA-FABIA-NJ5-1-2-Post-Cat-2014-on-Oxygen-Bosch-04E906262BJ-/333730433864?hash=item4db3e24b48   plus the proper lambda oxygen sensor socket - bit o a fiddle to get at the back of the engine but only took me 10 mins to replace and no issues with "component recognition" when  starting and warning light  gone.

 

cost a lot less than £165 including the tool !

Am able to get the sensor from TPS for £150.

Lambda Sensor fits SKODA FABIA NJ5 1.2 Post Cat 2014 on Oxygen Bosch 04E906262BJ is the one I used and works fine  - no warning light and no fault codes, search eBay  for genuine Bosch 04E906262BJ there's plenty on there.

 

Lambda Oxygen Sensor Socket 22mm x 100mm 1/2" Drive Cr-v Steel  -  this is the removal tool I used (eBay item number:252517659149) but again stacks available.

VCDS said mine had gone, heater O/C.

$611 from Skoda; $511 if in trade!!!!!

Searched number on Web upon arrival: 258030129/130 04E 906 got various results from Bosch et-alia, prices ranging $80 Ebay through to $180 SAME number!

No problems so far??

Similarly, Octavia Key broke. Took apart, PCB ok so got case $30 and repaired.

Told key needs 4 digit 'Secret' number no one knows, to program, bought a VAG interrogator $30 just in case.

At a guess Skoda would have charged > $500.

Still like my Fabia and wifey's Octavia!
