Hello, and sorry, it’s about pairing…

Featured Replies

New owner of a 2013 facelift petrol Yeti, all good so far except still can’t get my iPhone 6 to work properly via Bluetooth. I know, I know, but I’ve been through all the previous posts on the subject and still no joy. Can anyone help?

It’s a Bolero radio and initially I can pair successfully (comes up as VW Phone on the phone), the Maxidot display finds the phone OK, asks to create a profile, but when I click OK it just reverts to “no phone paired” — no conflicting messages on the iPhone. There’s a previous owner’s phone is still logged in the system so I thought that might be the problem but can’t see how to delete it. Have tried factory reset from the Maxidot and the head unit but it’s still there. Can play music from the iPhone through the radio (BT Audio?). Previous owner’s phone is listed as a paired device in Media but option to delete says “can’t delete as device is also being used as a phone”.

I’ve already learnt a lot from this excellent forum, so am hoping if anyone has the patience they can help me out.

Skoda did several versions of the Bolero, so make sure you have the correct set of instructions for yours.  Have you tried a system reset by pressing and holding the on/off button for several seconds (a quick internet search suggests 3 or 10 seconds)?

If you are getting any music at all through BT Audio, then the phone is at least doing some level of pairing with the system.  Part of the issue with diagnosis is that it could just as easily be an incorrect setting on the phone as on the Bolero unit.  I don't have an iphone, but is there any setting that restricts the Bluetooth to audio only, rather than audio and calls?

Added question

Occasionally takes ages to get my iPhone to connect via Bluetooth to my Yeti. Sometime I give up.

Sometimes I get similar problems when connecting to SmartLink for Apple Car Play (via USB). Occasionally it refuses to connect. Sometimes when it does connect, I choose a particular Podcast to listen to and it plays a different one.

Thanks for replying Zib. Yes, it's the correct instruction book, and have tried the reset though maybe I didn't do it for long enough so will do that again. Yes, it's frustrating because they are obviously seeing each other -- I'll go away and check the phone's bluetooth settings. Apart from that I'm having a lovely time in my Yeti, despite what the neighbour called it. Maybe this is just like a rite of passage or something.

Dale, thanks for that, I'll persevere.
