Virtual cockpit

Featured Replies

Good evening All, hope you're well!? I am now the proud owner of a new Karoq 1.5 SE L! Enjoying it so far in the few times I've been out in it, somewhat different drive to my previous Golf Mk 7R lol!!

Anyway, and perhaps for those plse who have the virtual cockpit! Is it possible to show maps/nav in BOTH the Infotainment System AND the virtual cockpit plse? When I go to Settings, I can only seem to have it on one or the other, ie. not both together..

If this is the case, fine, would then rule out user error..

Many thanks in advance

Andrew

If you have a Columbus, it can be displayed on both at the same time.

If you have an Amundsen, I believe it can only be shown on one at a time :(

With my Amundsen it's either / or. But for normal driving I've got the map showing in the centre of the virtual cockpit and the radio on the infotainment screen as my wife/co-driver is more likely to want to adjust the radio!

Cheers Both, not a biggie I guess, but something I didn't know before buying..

I'd imagine the answer is No, but can you perhaps have Waze or Google Maps on the Infotainment System, but show Skoda maps on the vc:speechless:

You can but if you use navigation on your mobile, it blocks the map display.

However you can use the inbuilt nav and have waze up (not navigating).

At least that's been my experience 👍

Cheers, managed to get Google Maps on Infotainment System and in-built on vc, not Waze, odd, but no biggie as I said..

I have built in GPS and still stick a Garmin on the screen for all the additional functionally.

in simple terms - built in satnav has very limited functionality.

OK telling it to go to A.

But very laborious to build a route with multiple waypoints - or Via points.

And it doesn’t display speed or Via data. Have you seen the difference between dash speedo and GPS speedo?

I don’t like dimwits who hold up traffic at less than speed limit just ‘cos their speedo is reading low. As they all do.

meanwhile, my stick on screen Garmin device displays current Speed, count down to turn, distance to via point, distance to destination, time to via point, time to destination. And lets me download trip data to pc. And lets me plan trips on pc and upload to device at my leisure.

anything I missed?

You only need to note the speedo differences for future reference, either with google maps or I use a speed app, then the built in nav is adequate and I prefer it to using google maps having tried both as better integrated to car.

I just remember that real 30mph is indicated 33, etc up to 70 is 76 for exact speed, and even then there will be a couple of mph for leeway before a camera trap is triggered so safe.

As above most traffic unfortunately believe their speedo and travel slower than allowed. My wife sits at an indicated 65 in a 70 area, and no explanation that she is only doing 60 really gets through her perceived risk of getting a speeding fine

Are you saying the speedo over reads? 30 indicated and you are actually doing 33?

I'm sure he meant when the speedo reads 30, you're actually doing about 27, and so on and so forth, somewhere in the region of 10% difference..

Thanks for the reply

I like to use Waze on my smartphone screen for turn-by-turn directions with its map pointing in whichever direction I’m going, and use the built-in sat nav’s map in parallel, pointing north, so I can see where exactly I am, if I’m in an area I’m not familiar with. I find it useful to have the map on the main screen always pointing north. But if I plug my iPhone into the USB port, I can’t find any way to do that combination (I also have the virtual cockpit). So whenever I’ve been doing long journeys to areas I’m not familiar with, I just plug my iPhone into the cigarette lighter adapter to keep it charged, so it stays completely independent from the car.

I no longer plug my Iphone in either, just use the 12v socket with a charger, as I prefer it not to take over on the main screen. Phone still connects fine this way.

Sorry no, meant that I can have either Waze or Google Maps on the Infotainment system, and then built-in nav on the virtual cockpit..

Seems daft to do it like this though..

as far as I know, no car manufacturer supports google maps navigation on virtual cockpit, they only support it on main infotainment screen

Audi has come the closest as it uses google satellite images overlay over its own navigation and you can have that in virtual cockpit - but its still not a proper gmpas navigation

Don't know why car manufacturers don't enable gmaps for virtual cockpits as well - probably too complicated/costly to have android auto enabled on the infotainment and virtual cockpit..
