Brand new Superb - brakes making grinding noises. Any help please?

Brand new Superb - brakes making grinding noises.

Been doing it from new,  mostly notice it when we reverse back in the drive way and apply the brakes.

Now done just over 1000 miles on it and still get the same sound.

Doesn't sound like a stone or anything in it.

The brakes also don't feel very sharp - but I've never owned a skoda before, so not sure if this is any different to normal.

I'm hoping someone will be able to help

Thank you

I would have a look at the discs through the wheels. Skoda discs can be pretty cheap and nasty and prone to corroding so perhaps the car has been left a while at a dock (ie by the sea) and picked up corrosion.

It is normal for discs to get a bit of surface rust after the car has been left with wet discs, and it can make the brakes sound grindy, but this should clear after a few applications of the brakes.

I recall looking at a brand new Superb in the dealers and being pretty shocked at the corrosion on the discs, they were badly grooved already with the car only having delivery mileage on it.

Check you haven't got any stones trapped between the pad & disc. I had this on a previous car after driving on a new loose gravel road finish - the type where they spray the road with tar & throw on a load of loose grit! Windscreen replacement companies love these new road surfaces!

Failing that I'd get it checked by the dealer under warranty.

Definitely worth a check, I had a stone stuck between the dust guard and disc on the rear in my Octavia. Managed to get it out by reversing and braking sharply.

Completely off topic but this time last year I travelled over to Castleford and collected a nice big Honda from Honda Castleford and rode it home to Ireland (long day)
