Featured Replies

Hi

Does someone know if it is possible to swap a Swing unit for a Bolero unit?

Is it posible to only replace the screen with the bigger one? Both Units are exactly the same, except from the bigger screen and touch buttons. (See attached document form Panasonic)

will need coding to the car

What do you mean?

He means that your car will have to be told there's a new infotainment system installed.

If you buy the headunit from your Skoda dealer and the price includes fitting then no worries, but if you buy it elsewhere then someone with the correct software, will have to attach a computer and re-program the car's brain to recognise the newly installed hardware.

What if I would only replace the screen? Both the Swing and Bolero are the same unit as they document attached in my first post states. I thought I read somewhere on this forum that they screen has no component protection.

You would also need to check the connections are the same.  I believe the Bolero has Wireless Android Auto/Apple Car Play so you'd need to check the wifi unit is there as well.  This might need its own power connector etc.    And, as previously mentioned, it would need to have the car re programmed to work with it as it has some features not present on the Swing unit.

Do you mean on the back side of the unit? Both Swing and Bolero are exactly the same. Except for the screen and buttons. Look at the document attached in the first post.

So, if I just replace the screen I will be fine i guess. Right?

This is MIB3. You can look it up here: https://fcc.report/FCC-ID/WUQ-MIB3HBTWIFI

Hey, few years later, but any update on this? I am in this same exact situation. Just need to know, if the screen side from the Bolero would fit in the Swing backend? HW wise everything I found looks like it is identical.

So I tried it today and no luck. Physically, the ribbon cable and the black connector looks the same, fits in nicely as well. But the screen was getting yellow tinted and the buttons were not getting registered at all. Might just be a bad fitment, although I doubt that. Everything was screwed together.

Replacement would be possible. The electrical installation connection is the same for Swing and Bolero. Then it is necessary to remove the component protection in a service center or with someone who can do it.
