DSG Issues 2012 1.2 ... Few Questions

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

My father in laws mk2 fabia 1.2 dsg as part failed today. Car only has 38k miles on the clock.

I wonder if i could quiz you kind folk?

The car was driving fine, then went to turn around and realised he had no reverse gear. He's lost 2nd +4th and reverse gear and can only operate the car in manual. They managed to limp the car home and now parked up. I haven't had change to have a scout at it yet.

But no noises or indication of a fault prior. Just loss of gears and no flashing errors on the dash.

After some research, i just wanted to confirm a few things and possibilities. I heavily suspect a mechatronic fault.

Seems a big issue is a leaking accumulator housing within the mechatronic unit...

  • As understand the mechatronic housing sits outside the gearbox right?
  • Can the accumulator housing be repaired using a repair kit in position on the car without removal of the whole mechatronic?
  • What odb scanner do we need to interrogate the DSG faults?
  • Any other tests to confirm the fault?

Any help would be appreciated guys! Thanks in advance!

You need VCDS or similar to scan the DSG properly.
