Help with Karoq electric parking brake

Featured Replies

Hello, I have had my Karoq for about 6 months now, yesterday someone moved my car for me. She seems to have somehow set it so the handbrake (which used to come on and off automatically and was amazing) needs to be put on and off manually - which is really annoying. I can't figure out how to set it back to automatic again! Can anyone tell me where the button is for this please! Thanks.

I suspect that they have turned the autohold off ( which applies the brakes, not the handbrake)

Just press the button with an A on it, not to be confused with the stop/ start button :)

No it's definitely the auto handbrake they've turned off. Previously when I parked the car, I didn't have to turn the handbrake on. It turned itself on - and then turned itself off again when I drove the car.

Now if I don't manually put the handbrake on when I park the car, it rolls down the hill (I discovered this with a shock yesterday as I am used to just being able to park and get out but when I tried to do this it started to move!).

As Kenny R states, Press the A, Auto button, text to the parking (hand) brake button ON, and remember if all else fails, read the manual.

After driving Golfs for 10 years with the Autohold feature, I was somewhat shocked to get in my new Karoq and find that it rolled back at junctions and didn't apply the parking brake automatically. But I quickly realised I was so used to having the Autohold enabled that I hadn't realised it wasn't engaged! Pressing the A button soon solved the problem :)

****, I laughed.

RTFM

I turn mine off a lot these days when leaving the car parked for days on end.

Occasionally I forget to turn it on immediately, but get reminded when I reach the first roundabout from home, when the car gently rolls forward
