Wiper Motor Assembly Removal? Help please?!

Hi, the wife came home today and the front wipers have packed up. I've took the wiper arms off, got the scuttle panel out and took off the mounting screws.

 

From there I'm stuck, it's physically impossible to get the assembly out of the gap!

 

Has anyone done this successfully?? Any help or tips would be most welcome!
