skoda fabia 1.2 tdi 90cv feel

Featured Replies

Hello there, I just obtained my driver licence and I am looking for a car to buy. I found a diesel skoda bravia 1.6 tdi 90cv 2012 which looks interesting and well maintained and I tried it with a professional. The car was easy to control on all five speed modes but I was feeling the clutch vibrations below with my left foot particularly before starting the drive test as the engine was not hot yet.

I wonder if such a feeling is normal for such a model. I've only drived a peugeot 208 gasoline car to earn my driver licence before so I am not sure if a skoda diesel clutch should feel much different from a peugeot gasoline clutch. (I felt no vibrations at all on the 208 clutch)

By the way do you think there are things that should be checked in particular before buying such a car ?

Thank you for your answers.

Clutches could feel different even from one Fabia to another so comparing it to a Pug is like comparing apples with oranges... That said, the clutch could be worn or getting there and I think personally, they tend to be a weak spot on a Fabia so perhaps have someone test it for you or if purchasing from a dealer, ask them very specifically about it state and if it is included in any warranty offered. That said, a clutch is a service part and only has a certain life expectancy on any vehicle so if suspicious of wear, get a quote for a new one and factor that in to making any offer on the car. You may have to change it in the future but might just get the cost off the price or if from a dealer, they may just change it at cost.

I´ve tried it again it was just me getting worried over nothing (lack of experience) it is fine. This car was much easier to drive for me than other cars I´ve tested it´s very comfortable :)
