VRS Oct volume

Featured Replies

Hi

Stupid question of the day!!

I can't turn up the volume of my stereo. It gets louder up until #14 and then remains at that volume regardless of how much I turn it up. I have RTM but can't find a default setting that restricts the volume.

Any help appreciated.

Lance

Hi, Lance.

Mine did that a few eeeks ago but it fixed itself the next day so I thought nothing of it. Some days later on the motorway it decided to adjust the volume up and down at random and now motorway driving means no volume above level 2!

I hope your unit isnt going to suffer the same fate as mine.

Not a stupid Q  It's been doing it in mine as well

It doesn't do it all the time but mine goes now and again.

What i've found that works sometimes is if you switch it off then straight back on again it resets the stereo for a while but then the volume starts to drop again after a while!:thumbdwn:

I also notice that if you go above the 58ish mark on the :revs: it gets louder but drops again when under it????? WTF!!!

I know this is normal for some stereos but i hate it!

I'd like to keep the original stereo but if this continues i doubt it!

boffins :orb_geek: please reply!

The volume is adjusted depending on vehicle speed by a function called "GALA". Look it up in the manual to see how to adjust it or turn the feature off.

When I collected the car I found GALA was set to level 4. At that setting it turns up the volume at motorway speeds perfectly so you dont notice it at all.

However, with the problem I've had recently it seems that as soon as you reach the 2nd or 3rd GALA "step" (seems to be just under 80mph) things start to go wrong.

Rather than turning it up at 80mph it turns it right down, no ammount of manual adjustment will make it come back up - even turning GALA off doesnt help as it then wont go above level 2.

Kaboom - it seems we have the same problem :(

EDIT: Mine only does it after the stereo has been on for at least 20mins. Any less time than that and its' fine.

I shall :holmes: this point this afternoon watson.:D

I'll try find out if my GALA is on or off (hmmmn.....6 and 4 ...64.....House ! thinking out loud again ) and get back later with my investigation update !

cheers Goochie

Mmmmm

Sounds like a stupid stereo rather than a stupid question.

I've tried rectifying the problem via the 'GALA' setting, without success. Also I would have thought that regardless of the 'GALA' setting, a manual adjustment would override.

For those interested - For 'GALA' settings press TP and hold for a few seconds and the display will change. There are many settings via this mode (including 'loud/phone/stereo on with or without ignition, etc'), which are accessible by either the <> or up/down buttons and adjusted via the volume button.

Invetigation Findings:

It would appear that my Gala function was what was causing the problem but i'll keep an eye out for it changing again.

Goo dto hear at least yours is acting as it should :(
