Has anyone bought/used a vag com from this person....

Bought one and I don't know whether its the way I have set it up or if it is the cable:confused:

When I test the com port I get

port status ok

Interface found

Type: serial pass through

opto/iso:no

Ross tech design:no

when testing compatibility it says the car is not ISO/OBD-II compatible

Anyone have any idea where I am going wrong

This is using 409

using 311 I get a message stating com port ok with an error message 05 Modem after it?

well 409 will only work with the official Ross-tech CAN BUS lead.

You need to use v311 anyway. Have you downloaded the software from www.ross-tech.com as it will have USB controllers with it that may help.

Nope, 409.1 will also work with "better" 3rd party hardware - still not with all of them.

Thanks..... it has been resolved I was to busy thinking about the cable being duff and the settings within the software when I needed to look at the basics.

Pointing me towards uSB controllers made me look closer at the driver/port settings. And it was here that I seen the usb was setting up on com port5 in the driver settings :confused: linked it back to com2 and hey presto.... It now works

I have a few bits of other software that connects via the OBD II cable that also work now
