How serious is this damage?

Featured Replies

So i backed into the post, it was dark, my window was icey so u couldn't see much there either. Anyway, I'm quite new to such things, never had any damage done to any of my cars. So I'd like to know how serious is this damage on my back bumper? Would it be expensive to fix it and how exactly such thing is fixed?

Octavia vRS 2011.

Thanks for all the info!

Here's another better photo, so you get a better idea

It's called a bumper for a reason.

Purely cosmetic, you could make it look as before but it could happen again, your money your decision.

Sometimes you can push the bumper back in to shape with the help of a heat gun / hair drier to soften it up first.

It won't be perfect but you can make it look better.

Heat from inside and not to much.

Practice on an unimportant part of the bumper first.

Thanks, AG Falco

What if I go to a mechanic or a place where professionals do it, how costly would that be? Would they be using similar methods to a heat gun?

Thanks for the info!

Do you really expect international forum members to know what mechanics/professionals charge wherever you are located... ask them directly.

Yes but there's always a ballpark

My sons girl friend back in to a low wall in her c1 Citroen the boiling water trick with pushing from behind worked a treat in putting the bumper back to shape.
