Skoda Service Plan

Featured Replies

Hello  everyone.

I have a Skoda Kodiaq SE L TSI 1.5 Manual petrol bought from new in 2019.

It will require its second service in July this year.

Skoda are offering  a service plan of 1 x oil and inspection service  and 1 x oil and inspection service with ext scope at a cost of £17 per month for 24 months.

In peoples view, is this a good deal and for those peope with a service plan, when having a service done  have you ever experienced any "surprise" costs which weren't  covered by the plan.

thanks so much in advance

Paul

The Oil & Service Inspection includes the price of the Oil & Filter as done now.

But the Pollen Filter is an extra cost.

The Extended Scope does not include Air Filter, Spark Plugs which are extra cost.

The Brake Fluid at 3 years is extra cost.

?

So what parts replacement are they changing during this Service Plan?

Thanks so much for the reply. It wont screen shot, so this is what they said

1, oil and inspection service

change engine oil

reset service display

stamp digital service history

vehicle inspection  test and report

full vehicle test

check for vehicke software enhancements

diagnostic check

wash and vacuum

replace pollen  filter if applicable

Oil and extended scope inspection

As above except  replace pollen filter

Remove wheels  check brakes

check/ adjust  tension of all drive belts

check suspension system

check heating/aircon

full visual inspection of engine and components

lubricant door mechanisms

check exterior / interior body condition

So you will require to pay for brake fluid change and mot over and above 3rd service and spark plugs, mot and air con service over and above what your plan covers for 4th service.

@macbun Does that service plan require the car to be on 'Fixed / Annual servicing' ?

Because the Extended Scope is first @ 3 years & @ each 3 years.

If you get a pollen filter done now at 2 years another would be due @ 4 years.

As would the

They will replace the Pollen Filter once @ no extra charge then since it is a bi-annual service item.  If they do it.

I doubt very much the wheels will be coming off when they check the brakes.

But Skoda UK continue having that on the web page.

The tension of visible drive belts is checked because obviously the Cam Belt is not checked,

so 'all drive belts'  is not accurate.

Good to see now that it shows that the Body Inspection is done at the 'Extended Scope' so each 3 years,

Skoda UK should not be saying if a Corrosion Warranty claim is made that there is no record of body inspections as they have been doing with some if not many.

Body & Glass Inspections have been showing on the Fixed Price servicing on Skoda UK sites for years now.

Thanks to all for taking the time to reply to my query.

It looks like there would be additional costs incurred,  over and above my service plan, should extra bits be needed.

I suppose also i am looking at it from the point of view of having to pay out a large amount at the one time for a service  versus the affordability of a monthly payment  but also knowing that this might not cover all the work required.

Your plan is £17 x 24 months = £408

It doesn’t cover everything apparently, so why bother

Remember in general, plans are usually to make someone extra profit, at your expense, but are dressed up to get you to think they are worth buying.  They are not there to be charitable to you.

Why not just set up a £17 monthly bank transfer to a deposit account, then pay servicing out of that instead, and if you don’t want any unexpected bills make the transfer £20-25 so bit of spare in there to cover unplanned extra.

Logically, you could add another £13 per month to cover annual car tax, could also add more to cover insurance premium.  Then just pay as required using the car fund account you created.

I agree. The 'Oil and Inspection Service' pretty much just consists of an oil change and a look over the vehicle, which in my opinion, is not worth paying for.

Driving the car, I would know if something doesn't feel right, rather than someone just having a look over it.

Always good to get the oil changed by a professional, the air and cabin filters I just do myself using the best parts available (Mann Air filter, and anti-fungal Cabin filter).

There's no maintenance for the first 2 years?

I have a weird interval in my skoda app, Oil Change when the car will have 24000 km or 1.5 years of purchase  and a service inspection at 30000km or 2 years. Why not just merge these 2 when the interval is so short?

To add to that the maintenance is supposedly digital. It would be so much simpler if there was a service booklet.

That is just the weird app though.

A Service Booklet was 'Simply Clever' so Skoda stopped doing them.   You can make up your own one, or buy one.

There is maintenance throughout ownership.

Like checking oil, tyres / pressures/ washer fluid, wiper blades etc.  Prepping for winter and maintaining after winter.

There is Oil & Filter change at 372 days / 9,400 miles if on a Fixed Service Regime, and not until 24 months / 18,000-20,000 miles if on variable, or sooner if you want.

So that is at 2 years or sooner.
