Fabia 1.4tdi Mk2 - awful to drive at night

Featured Replies

Any recommendations on how to improve night time driving experience to brighten the road what's the best bulbs to use please in the UK

Polish those headlight lenses, even t-cut and elbow grease will get them nice and clear again.

Which headlights have you got?

The mk2 Fabia came with reflector on the lower spec models, and projector lights on the higher spec models.

Projectors can suffer massively over time with dirt build up and the projector bowl coating breaking down.

If that's happened, no matter what bulbs you fit you will get poor light output.

Projectors on a 1.4 TDI?

Thanks Phil really need to sort this because last night was ridiculous

I have projectors as the dipped beam on mine and fitted Ring +150's, however the biggest improvement was simply to have the beam correctly aligned. That made a big difference.

A Greenline is a 1.4 TDI, albeit in a higher spec and they have projectors.

Ok, double confirmed, I'm surprised, like putting lazors on a milk float but at least you townies will be able to venture out of the streetlit suburbs without pressing your glistening faces against the windscreen.

Agreed............Alignment on a beam setter to max allowable limits improves it massively as well as better bulbs.

I use Philips extreme vision.

I get the point. I (May just) Have LED's up front and they look nice and white, bright and not too dazzling, unlike some vehicles that "Come with them as standard and fully legal", but the throw out of the beam is still not that good. I would defy be slipping in something like the Philips LED ones that were on that Autoexpress test, if I lived and drove out in the sticks... Mine however, were about a tenner a pair. I used to use Osram N-B's and may slip them back in again soon as they are usually cheaper on CP4L or ECP, with codes.  I have not seen the Twenty20 ones on there yet, though otherwise I might try them, if discounted.
