MySkoda App - ACCESSING VEHICLE DATA TRANSMITTED TO VAG..

Featured Replies

There have been a number of posts in the Facebook Skoda Karoq Owners Group recently related to the appearance on the infotainment screen when starting the car of a message about Data Tracking. I too have had this but it has now stopped. Then a new longer message referring to EU data protection and sharing - that was the gist I think as I didn’t take a photo and it’s no longer being displayed. I think I may have “OK d” both messages and that perhaps stopped them being displayed.

Any way leading on from that I downloaded the latest version of the My Skoda App and it has new information about Consents and Permissions. Data Tracking which is tracking the way the App is used and Vehicle Data that the car transmits and is stored on VAG servers.

There is a new feature to request downloads of the transmitted vehicle data that VAG store. There is a Historic Data request and Continuous data request, the later can customised to select specific data clusters and to one-off, monthly, until a specific date or non-expiring which I take to mean on a regular basis. It’s a little bit long winded to initially login into the Data Portal, to be able to request historical and continuous data, which will be provided within 24 hrs.

I am waiting to see what is provided. The data dictionaries can also be downloaded. I’m assuming delivery will be by email as that’s how the data dictionary pdf was delivered.

I've not received anything yet and I've no idea what I will do with it or if I will even be able to do anything with it. I'm hoping I might be able to load into Excel, Access or My SQL database and then write some PHP or VB Macros to do something with it..........

Very interesting. Thanks.
