New battery & alternator car still dies

Featured Replies

Hi all

Is there a common issue or known fault that occurs with the charging of these cars?

The car runs brilliantly when there is charge in the battery but then all of a sudden there is no throttle response and it dies.

The car is draining the battery completely so I bought a new alternator however the problem still occurs.

Whats next?

Regards

Check your black earth cable for its condition and also look under the black fuse box. It's a known issue that it can build up resistance and melt the fusebox.

Hi Dean!

Thanks! Forgot to mention. My main earth to the battery is fine. I did however look under the black fuse box and found the end black cable had melted part of the fuse box.

I moved the cable to the pos connection on the battery terminal. All other cables in that fuse box were OK

Was it replaced? As it could still be causing issues. Also worth looking around the car and trying to find out what else could cause the battery draining.

I've ordered the fuse box that sits on top of the battery so will replace that. And possible the main alternator cable.

Other than that I have no clue as she was sweet as a nut before all this.

I bought one of these (see below) to do the electrical checking on my cars, are about £20 delivered from E-Bay.
