Considering the purchase of our first Skoda. I’m being told that diesel may be a problem as our motoring is mainly short journeys.

I like the idea of high mpg and low-zero road tax.

What would I need to do at weekend to try and stay problem free (filters)

I think the basic rule is sound; if you're mainly making short, local journeys buy petrol.   If you're travelling longer distances regularly, particularly via motorway perhaps, go diesel.
