2.0 TDI 103 kw bad noise, please help

Featured Replies

Hi all, please help with my car. It makes bad sound (knocking/growling) when engine is warm temp (70-90 c) and when car maintain speed on 2. gear or 3.gear. Engine makes the same sound even when it is standing still and when I slowly descend rpm from 2000 to idle. Growling is lost during dpf regeneration ! In my country CZ mechanics say it is normal sound of this engine, I'm very sad and I replaced injectors, clutch+dual mass flywheel, timing belt, accessory belt, alternator freewheel. Tried non-dieselgate software or dieselgate software (9813/9918) no change. With stethoscope the noise is higher from cylinder head around 1.cylinder. So now I have completely checked the engine, the bottom is ok, the head is ok, no visible damage, nothing. Oil is clean, without metal dust. When I search on internet i find out that a lot of cars with this engine (especially CFFB and CFHF/C) emitting this noise - cause unknown. It is possible that this problem doing oil pressure/pump ? I don't have a pressure gauge, it's probably the only thing I haven't checked. Please help image.gif.616a3105569912be06941e3091fa5bd1.gif and sorry for my english.

Have you checked the lobes on the camshaft for wear?

This is the same noise. I found random on yt.

The "roaring" noise sounds like air intake roar - is that what you're hearing?

The most accurate definition is probably "growling". Sound does not come from the air intake, do you have in mind typical roaring from air intake when camshaft damage, is not it.
