O4 HU and virtual cockpit, how do you like it?

Featured Replies

Allright, couldn't find similar topic.  The question is, do you like how it is organized, usability, speed?

I ask, because we - do not.

Our O4 has been delivered mid of January to us, so we had plenty of time to get used to. I don't think this will happen. Why? Because, when I (now very rare) sit back to my RS, everything is so smooth, easy and fast.

The problem with O4 what I have is following: yes it looks much better, eye candy, colorful, rich, but quantity of information you get is exactly the same, not more not less, just so much difficult to get them. You need more clicks, you need more to wait, more distraction from the road - and this is in my humble opinion - not okay.

So, from the general perspective, it is fine, I can live with it, but its just a little bit bitter. I expected more from latest generation and biggest HU they offer, Columbus. At least CPU should have been faster then previous generation.

as far as i know HUD does not show details from apple carplay or android auto nevigation, right?

I think HU means Head Unit in the above and not Head Up Display.🤷🏻‍♂️

This is my first car with a digital cockpit and in general I really like it. What I really miss is an easier way to cancel a call with the button on the steering wheel and a bigger display of a selected gear. At least in VRS layout. The gear selector display in the bottom left corner is really hard to see.

I have thought the exact same.

Yes, HU = Head Unit, the big tablet now sitting in the mid, formerly below middle aircon ducts.

Forgot to mention phone button, which was dedicated on O3, at O4 either you do many clicks distracted off the road, or you need on HU to press home button, then phone button, then you can call - so at least 3 clicks if you are already not on that screen (usually, I am never, either on multimedia, radio, either on navigation, or fullscreen data).

Actually wanted to ask other owners - is there a faster way through the steering wheel to make a phonecall? If not, they are simply idiots, and in FL this _must_ me properly reorganized. What were they thinking for the gods sake. You can look through something if it hasn't existed better before, but in this case I cannot.

I think it is two clicks to access the list of last calls. One click with the right scroll wheel and one with the bottom right button.
