Columbus Navigation System 2012 - Maps not moving in real time

Featured Replies

Hi All

Anyone got a problem with their Columbus Navigation System in that, in Navigation and Map function the map will not follow me on my route even though it calculated 3 routes for me.

The HW-Version is H61.  Sw-Version  4024. Active Map Coverage- West Europe.  Active Map Supplied- Navteq. Map Version HDD - 7690.

I just bought the car and there was no SD card in it. Is the SD card necessary???

I went onto the Skoda Portal to look for an update of maps but it said that " the navigation device on your vehicle does not support online updates from  websites" "It is necessery to order an SD card with updated map data via Skoda Genuine Accessories".  What size SD card does the Columbus 2012 support?

I would be grateful for any help

Hello, I am a new owner of a Skoda Octavia VRS 2011 and whenever I turn the car on it says the location of the sat nav is in Germany instead of my house? The battery had been disconnected for a while

It's quite common for the GPS antenna to break inside the roof antenna.

The easiest solution is to buy a cheap aerial that has the correct fakra connector and just put it under the dash (under the top storage box is a metal bar it can be placed on).

The SD is only there for music on the Columbus. The maps are stored on an internal hard drive and are updated via a DVD.

It's just a standard SD card and up to 32gb I believe.

Look on eBay for map DVDs. Many have had success with them. You have to put the DVD in and it copies the new maps over onto the hard drive.

There are some less official ways to acquire maps but they can't be discussed here.

Thank You Phil-E or your quick reply

If my Columbus calculates my route, allows me to select the most economical route, and it shows 9 and 10 satellites then this would mean my problem is not the antennae??

after calculation of route when I select Start it tells me the first manoeuvre, but nothing happens after that.

I had a similar problem and found if you put in your gps corordinates and select them as "Home" it should solve your problem
