Looking to get another Superb, but which?

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Possibly looking at getting a new Superb this year. Won't be brand new but hopefully a year old maybe.

Currently got a 190tdi sel executive but Skoda don't seem to make that model now. I can only see SE, SE l, SportLine Plus and L&K.

I was hoping to get a SportLine plus but do they only come with 19" wheels? I have them on my current car and I do find it a bit crashy. Reasons for looking at a SportLine is those seats. I'm hoping they are comfier than the half leather half suede in my sel exec, I do find my current seat a little uncomfortable. My wife has a skoda Kamiq with cloth seats and they seem way more comfy.

I am hoping for slightly smaller wheels, a dsg gearbox and probably a drop to a 150 and the 190 does seem quite gruff and by all accounts does seem much faster in the real world.

My daily driving is about 70 miles and I cover about 18 to19k miles a year. I did consider the 1.5 petrol but I'm unsure how economical this would be, we do tow a small trailer for camping as well.

Current car has 80k on the clock so probably not going to be worth lots as a part ex

Has anyone got an SE as I do quite like the look of the cloth seats with that quilted design? Also looked at SE L which seems to have leather.

Thanks

Adrian.

SE-L matches your existing spec well but you lose the Columbus for the Amundsen which is a shame but if you have a pre MY18 it’s not too bad as the screen size is 8 inches. You gain KESSY with sensors on the rear doors, full leather, full LED lighting with matrix lights and dynamic light assist, colour Maxidot and LED floor and boot lighting. You also get 18’s as standard. The SL+ adds the colour changing ambient lighting to that as well as the half leather sports seats and 19’s but I find the ride on the 19’s very good, hardly notice the difference on 18’s and I find the 18’s, though they suit the SE-L, look wrong on the SL+ as they never came with them. If ride is a concern, try an L&K with DCC and see if you find it makes a difference :)

Thanks for the reply. Current car is a 2016 registered in early May of that year.

Not sure I could quite stretch to an l&k. Se L seems to be quite good value. Seen a few out there around a year old next to no miles for around & 20k. I need as fewer miles as possible as I'm going to add a fair few. Having said that my current car had 26k on the clock when I got it and its been fine. SportLine Plus seem to work out a little more pricey.

How do you find the seats on the SportLine? I do struggle to get a set up that stays comfortable on my current car I'm always fiddling with it. That's why the SportLine appealed at first when I started looking, the seats just look a lot more supportive.

I went from a 2017 SEL Exec to a 2020 SEL.  Both 150 TDIs

Screen is smaller and you lose the hard drive (I never used it) but gain KESSY  leather  adaptive headlights:biggrin: and blind spot monitor.

Used to do 25 k a year but only done 2k in this one since it arrived in September so there may be other differences I haven't found yet.  There is a thread on here about it

I must admit I'm really not interested in too many of the toys. Never used the hard drive or the CD player. The 3rd zone climate control never gets used.

I like my heated seats. I plug my phone in by a lead and I like the auto lights wipers and cruise control. Everything else to me is uneeded. Oh and I do like the footwell lights. Do they come on the se l?

I'm not overly bothered by the screen size I don't think.

I've heard more bad things about kessy than good. My current car has an electric boot lid and even that winds me up. I mean for starters to £1000+ boot struts that had to be replaced (luckily by warranty)

I just want cheap fairly comfortable motoring. I'd like dsg cause the amount of miles I do and I drive into London so it's quite stop start.

Seems like se l may be the one then.

I love the toys, my SL+ has nearly £5k of extra spec and I’m still adding more! The boot struts are far cheaper aftermarket or used (£200 a pair), and KESSY is a godsend IMO. I love my seats but I wouldn’t say they are that much more body hugging than the normal SE-L seats. SE-L is certainly a sweet spot in the range now IMO. You can’t get Dragon Green in any trim but SL+ so that’s where I looked but if I wasn’t hooked on that colour or the more sporty appearance, I’d have been very pleased with the SE-L.
