Cam Belt

Featured Replies

Car 10 years old now 70000 miles debating next belt change (2nd in my ownership) want to use local garage instead of Skoda Dealer, does anyone use OEM parts ?

My current car doesn't have a belt, but on any car I work on or my own, its OEM or OEM level brand belts and tensioners only  (Conti-tech/INA/Gates etc)

Having bought belts as part of my job from Conti and Gates, not all belts are equal. Stick with the big brands and OEM.

Why dont you actually explain the experience that you have which has formed your opinion rather than telling people what to do?

Or do you think that its too difficult for people to analyse information and make their own decisions?

J.R your right. I should have phrased my reply differently and expressed an opinion and not advice.

I personally would only buy OEM or a major brand having spent too many years working for a large German multinational sourcing, amongst other products, belts.

But why not share your knowledge gained from your experience?

Surely that is what a forum is for.
