Some advice needed

Featured Replies

I own a red 2001 51 plate Octavia vRS. It is entirely standard and has had one company owner prior to me. It has 103K miles with full service history (first 10 Bickerton Skoda, next 2 german car specialist), 12 months MOT and 4 months Tax. The tyres are new Pirelli's and the car has no faults bar a few stone chips. I've owned the car for a few months now and have been thinking about a change. I tested a 2003 03 plate Seat 1.9 TDi Sport (130 BHP, 6 speed) at the weekend. It is in black and has 24K on the clock, up at

They're having a laugh with you I'm sure... you should expect a minimum part exchange of £3500 on a car up for 8k...

Should be able to get upto £4,500 private IMO!

Tell 'em to get lost.:finger: There's plenty of other decent cars for sale, try a different garage.

thanks for you input. I guess I'll never darken Evans Halshaw's door again :thumbdwn:

They are taking the pi55 mate!

I'd expect to get at least book trade value in P/X if not more (as per the advice above, 3850, in the case of this vehicle)

If it was me, I'd sooner sell it to a friend or family for a cheap price as a 'favour' than give it away to a dealer who'll then make on it.

I am having similar experiences right now, selling a 2002 S2000 before I move back to the UK - Honda dealer offered me US $17k for it (purchased outright) - he has a 2002 on his forecourt for US $24k so, yeah right, like I am going to give it to him for $17k!!! Sooner sell it cheap at work to one of the many drooling young lads that want it if I get desperate to shift it towards the end!

Recently I was thinking about trading in my 01 VRS with 55K on the clock, looked at an 02 Clio 172 Cup for

just for reference i recently sold my silver octavia vrs 51 plate 82k with 220bhp remap, near mint cond, FSH privately for 6500. they are having a giraffe!
