I have a 2016 O3.

My external mirrors are electricaly heated and adjustable but not electrically foldable.

 

Would changing them for a foldable version be expensive? 

i mean the wire must already be here as they have "lecetrical" fonctions, and the motor  that enable the mirror to fold is certainly in the mirror itself no?

 

is it like i think juste a matter of buying a new one, a foldable one, putting it in place and then a coding or an option to enable it in the car options?

 

I think you'll need a pair of foldable mirrors, two new door controllers that support finding and a replacement mirror switch. After that it's just coding 👍

Each of the front doors has an electronic control module, these are the door controllers

 

Only the 'highline' versions have the two pins fitted for the folding mirror motors. I've no idea how expensive they are. I think it's relatively easy if the door mirrors came from a similar Octavia, if not, they may need re-parametrizing with ODIS/VCP.

 

Just as an example, my 2018 vRS with folding mirrors has these controllers but I'm not sure if they'll be correct for a 2016 car.

you need new door controllers, the parts for folding are not included. Same with the dimming. I would personally estimate this to be a €500 thing. There's a list of part numbers on Sasha's thread.

Maybe a dumb question but.. Do i really need the switch? I mean want thème to fold when i lock the car. But i really don t see when i would need  thèm to fold at any other time
