Kodiaq SE add SatNav

Featured Replies

Hello all,

First post and I feel a bit stupid already.

We just bought a 7 seat Kodiaq SE 1.5 TSI DSG from a main dealer. We traded in a 2014 Octavia.

On the test drive we didn't try NAV on the head unit, we just assumed it was there. Our Octavia had it.

Now, after buying it, we realise it doesn't have it. Nor does it have any SD card slots in the glove box.

Android Auto is fine by me but it is a bit flaky and my wife isn't blessed with patience with technology.

I think we have an Amundsen head unit, see attached. Also attached a photo of what we see when we press the NAV button.

So, my question is, is it possible to add NAV? If so what is involved in doing it?

Many thanks in advance

John

Are you able to get Sygic navigation on your android phone? It’s a offline map and is a great alternative to the inbuilt navigation.

Hello, we already have Google maps working via Android Auto.

My wife is used to the Skoda navigation we had with the Octavia, which is why I want to enable it in this Kodiaq.

I remember someone said that the activation at the dealer will cost smthng 300 quit. Better ask there.

I only used the Skoda nav the odd time in the first year as it had skoda connect with live traffic etc.. but now I find google so much easier to use and always has accurate enough traffic etc too.

I went to my Skoda dealer today - £1100 to supply and fit a Blaupunkt navigation kit

Massively expensive

You could buy a cheap phone (or even use older one with damaged screen), keep it plugged it and just use something like android auto or google maps.

Many networks will allow you to add second user for about £10 per month to your existing phone data allowance if you need data card in it.   You might not even need extra data card if it can connect off another phone (wifi hotspot etc)

Thanks, but as I explained in my first post I already have AA working.

The Skoda dealer today said that my head unit is Bolero.

A thread I found on here, showing a system information screen with exactly the same details as mine, identified it as Amundsen. Also NAV button in top right.

I am really confused with this.

My system information screen describes a Navigation Database - 19.11, surely this indicates that there is some navigation capability in the unit?

I would be really grateful of any help in enabling this NAV feature.

Are you positive there is no unit in the glovebox. It is at the top of the lower glovebox and not readily apparent if sat in passenger seat and look in glove box. It does certainly look like you have the amundsen and it requires a Skoda SD with the maps inserted in the slot in the glovebox to operate.

Hello, thanks for the reply.

Our Octavia had exactly what you describe, this Kodiaq just has a blanking plate.

MY21 cars with the MIB3 infotainment system don’t have the slots anymore.

If you already have a sat nav unit ( Amundsen) why on earth does the dealer want to charge you an extortionate amount of money to change it.

Haven’t seen the new MIB3 unit, but what happens if you press the update software banner shown in your first post.

If you press the update software button on the latest models, nothing happens. It just goes to another page but that page also does nothing. With the MY21 version cars you have to wait for updates to be pushed to the car ota via the esim.
