Featured Replies

right, got the laptop, got vag-com,now i want to set the new key to work the remote locking, i followed ross-tech instructions but to no availe.my new key was off ebay, same frequency as originals, how can i tell if it's immobilzer 2 or 3 in the new key.

any help much appriecated,

where do you find all the info as to what you can do with your cars.

Have you got it working as an ignition key yet?

If you have, there is a trick where you shut the drivers door with the window open, hold the key already remote active in the lock in the "open" position, while having the key to be remote programmed in the ignition in the "on" position. I think then you push down on the open button on the remote on the key in the ingnition, and this programs it.

Don't take this is as gospel. I was just told it was like this a long time ago and I'm not sure I remember it fully either. :o

Procedure For Matching Remote Key Fobs To The Car:

Using a spare key switch the ignition on.

Insert the key to be programmed into the driver's door lock.

Manually lock the driver's door using the key.

Press the Lock or Unlock button on the fob once.

Wait for a least one second.

Press the Lock or Unlock button on the fob twice.

The vehicle horn will sound to indicate correct programming.

This is what I was thinking of Stu - along the same lines, but I was totally wrong.

Or if you have VAG COm and want to program the remote..

Address word 46

Adaptation channel 00 (erase learned values, yes)

Adaptation channel 01 (enter and save the number of remotes to program) then press either button once on each remote, indicators should flash once for each key.

Job done.

Lummox,

I'll give that a try tonight, it's similar to ross-tech instructions

Have you got the key working at all - Does it allow the car to start?

There are two procedures - One to synchronise the fob with the immobiliser and one to synchronise the fob with the remote locking.

stu,

key not working at all, but not had time to try lummox 's instructions, i've had to do my wifes dialysis tonight, so we'll give it a go tomorrow, i did try to syn the fob to the c/locking without sucsess.

kevin

If it isn't sync'd to the immobiliser then you'll have to follow the procedure on my website using VAG-COM and your Immo code first.

The details Ross gave you above are only for the unlocking part of it, you will also need to do the rest of it.

not had time to do it yet, but iwill do it saturday, just want to get the remote bit working first, then i do the immobiser, but i am not sure if this new key is imm 1 or 2, how cani tell,

kevin

AFAIK the keys differ in operating frequency and not Immo versions.

I am assuming that you have your 4 digit code.

  • Author

stu,

new key has the same frequency as the 2 original keys, the only difference, is the new key is a 3 button remote, i know it won't open the boot but if it will open the doors i'll be more than happy.

kevin

Get the immoblizer working first, thats the tricky bit.

To get the key coded to the imobiliser is the tricky part. You will need a registered version of Vag-Com and the 4 digit SKC from the dealer. This code costs £15 and to get it you will need to give them the 14 digit imobiliser code or the car. Took me a day to get the code and around an hour to code it. The instructions from ross-tech website didn't work perfectly and it took some fiddling to get it to work. Once the key is coded, the central locking bit is a doddle.

The code doesnt actually cost anything. Although a dealer may charge for thier time to email Skoda etc.

An hour to code it!!!

Sounds like you really were struggling.

If you still have the original plastic key fob that came with the car this will have your 4 digit SKC on it.

ok guy's,

spent an hour last night,( after fitting and intigrating my phone kit) to get the remote to code, no joy what so ever, tried all the differant instructions sent, still no joy,are you now saying that the remote will not activate until the immobiliser is working ???? or have i bought a duff key from our polish friend on ebay.

the key is a 3 button remote and not a 2 button as the originals, or do i need a newer veriosn of vag-com (3112 at present)

kevin

Got my key from ebay too. I used version 409.1 to code the key. Is your vag-com registered? do you have the 4 digit skc?

Is your version a registered version?? I'm not sure if it's limited in shareware mode.

There is no code to get from the car - the 4 digit SKC would have been supplied from new on a plastic key tag. If you don't have that then you need to go to the dealers and ask them to get it.

I think you will still get the remote working without the immo, it will open the car but not start.

Try this simple method -

Procedure For Matching Remote Key Fobs To The Car:

Using a spare key switch the ignition on.

Insert the key to be programmed into the driver's door lock.

Manually lock the driver's door using the key.

Press the Lock or Unlock button on the fob once.

Wait for a least one second.

Press the Lock or Unlock button on the fob twice.

The vehicle horn will sound to indicate correct programming.

Edit - I forgot to add that I am 100% sure that the method I detail on my website works as that's how I do it.

You will fail at the first hurdle if you don't have the 4 digit SKC as you need it to log in -

[select] [17 - Instruments]

[Login - 11]

Enter zero followed by the 4-digit SKC.

For example, if your SKC is 1234, enter 01234.

[Do It!]

ok stu,

already tried the method of key in door to match it to remote but this system did'nt work either.

I have the skc number, so do i need to do this before i can code the new key to the car ????.

don't even get the horn to sound when reprograming the twooriginal keys, only indicators flash to confirm.

stu,

i also have concerns with the nokia phone kit,( cark 128 ) radio knows phone is fitted, mutes when call comes in but get no phone volume through speakers,

instructions said not to connect green wire from kit ([amc] and not to connect blue wire (igns).

I read somewhere you had trouble getting your kit working, where these the same issues.

Stu, forgot to say car is 2001 octavia TDI

kev

Ok, this should sort your car kit problem out -

http://www.fabia-vrs.com/carkit.htm

Enabling the phone menu -

To enable sound through the car speakers you must first enable the telephone audio input and telemute functions of the Symphony Head unit. To do this, with the radio switched on press and hold the TP button to enter the main menu. Using the left and right buttons (< or >) select the phone option and then rotate the volume control to enable it. Again, using the left and right buttons select the phone in option and enable it. At this point you can also set the phone volume level.

Although it 's for a Fabia it should be the same on your symphony too.

Have you followed the exact procedure on my website for key coding?
