Several problems with Kodiaq 2020

Featured Replies

I must first say that I am very happy with the car. It is going well and I think it is a good driver environment. Plenty of space and comfort.

There are still a couple of things that I think should be fixed as it is a brand new car and such "little things" after all should not occur.

The first is a  squeaking noise in the driver's door. It squeaks at the top of the door towards the B-pillar. There's a plastic cover that creaks every time I open the door. The sound also comes when I close the door. I can also move the door back and forth and the sound will come. I have compared with several other Kodiaqs and this sound is missing from all of them. This is not the case with the other doors of the car either. If I thought that new cars with such squeaking noise were perfectly ok, then I would have bought a cheaper Japanese car.

CarPlay has 5-8% of the times refused to start up. I have taken some pictures to illustrate this. Sometimes of these, it starts after a long time (2-3 minutes), sometimes it starts if I change the USB input, and other times it does not start until I stop, turn off the car, go out and lock, get lost a few minutes and then start again. I have a video of this without it starting, and it has been over 3 min.

Sometimes when I listen to the radio, CarPlay suddenly starts by it selves. I got it om film.

Bluetooth connection is also sometimes absent. Sometimes I had to talk to people on the speaker on the phone because Bluetooth on the car would not connect. For the blurtooth to connect, I have to stop, turn off the car, go out and lock, get away for a few minutes and then start again. There is no point in just turning off the car and restarting it.

Something of the same with navigation. It has also not started. But very seldom.

It has also been sometimes that the sound can not be turned up or down, on the radio. I have managed to get this on film. Here you can see that I turn the knob, but no sound comes. There is no sound when I adjust the steering wheel either.

What kind of problems with Kodiaq have you experienced?
Sometimes the screen locks/freezes so that it is not possible to change the channel. Fortunately, I have also managed to get this on film.

When I first talk about Amundsen, I can tell you that in relation to the Superbene I have had with factory-fitted DAB, and the Fabian we have with retrofitted DAB, the DAB signals in Kodiaq are very poor. In Kodiaqen, it is often the case that the sound is absent in places where the Superbene had a clear and nice sound. Luckiely my dealer have fixed this problem by cange the DAB antenna box within the rear boot door/tailgate.

I have also experienced that it says on the screen that I do not have DBA coverage with the icon for no coverage luminous. Still, there is a radio in the car.  This is the channel it says it should be. When I lower the volume, it gets lower. When I increase the volume it does not work.

I have also experienced that I have turned off the car, the radio screen gets dark, the virtual dashboard goes into final position and shows the car with driving data, while the radio sound is still audible…? I managed to get this on film. It went away after a few minutes.

Sometimes I put the car in reverse and the rear view camera does not turn on. I have a picture that there is an R in the display on the speedometer, but the radio is still on the radio. I have also received a picture that the infotainment only shows an outline of the car as if I do not have a rear view camera installed.

After leaving the car for about 45 minutes, and then starting it again, there may be a hissing sound from the dashboard. The sound is described as if you are standing in the basement of your house and someone is draining water on the floor above. Then it hisses in the pipes to the crane. Not herring in the drain pipe, but the hissing in the supply pipe. I have also managed to get this on film over time.

There has also been a problem with Skoda Connect. I'm sitting inside the house and have to turn on the heat. Then it happened that I did not get in touch with the car. It says offline mode. I have pictures of this. Then it says that I must contact my service partner. The next day it may work again. Other times I can be notified of "No connection to the vehicle" This I also have a picture of.

Sometimes it has happened that I have to open the tailgate with the button on the hatch, and when I squeeze the hatch there is a click and the hatch opens about 2 mm. Then I have to press again and it opens electrically. I can then also pull up the door manually when it does not go up electrically. I do not have this on film. I usually do not have time to reflect on all this when I am at work. It takes a lot of time to get all these pictures and movies taken. I have deleted hundreds of movies where things do not happen. It is so that the few times I forget to film my actions, it happens of course…

The clock has set several times 1 hour back. Although all settings are correct. And this has nothing to do with winter/summer time settings.

The car has now been serviced and has undergone an extra software update and replaced the tuch screen on Amundsen. There is a "brain" behind the screen which is then replaced. The errors are still there.

The "problem" with water on the roof is the following: When it has rained a lot, or it rains a lot, water settles on the roof. When I then open the back doors, water flows down the back seat of my Kodiaq. This has to be ab designer fault. I hope they fix this on other models.
