Skoda Connect

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I’ve just purchased a 2018 Octavia SE Technology.

This car is beautiful but I have one question.

I want to subscribe to Skoda connect so I can locate my car and find it in a car park etc.

However these is no slot for a SIM card. Is there a built in SIM card so I can use these services. I don’t want to subscribe then realise I can’t use what I’ve paid for.

Many Thanks

same for me, hence researching it too

Good evening everyone.

In regards to Skoda Connect, it all depends on a couple of things. First, you need to pay the 42ukp (about 50eur) for the Infortainment license for your Amundsen or Columbus system. This will give Traffic Info, Weather and News Services. You will need the SOS physical button to use Care Connect which gives you tracking and live system diagnosis to Skoda HQ in CZ (another £42).

Next, you will need to either get a CarStick (a GSM/4G modem for the USB socket) or set up a tethering hotspot (via Menu->Settings->WiFi) to your phone.

Then you will need to add your car to Skoda Connect. It will ask for your VIN number (scan it using the camera or manually enter it), and then Skoda Connect/MySkoda will ask for a 6 digit PIN number from the MIB system (Menu->Settings->Skoda Connect->Registration). Type this in and after 5 or so mins, the car and MIB will sync up.

To get Skoda Connect to give you the necessary service, you must maintain a data connection via either the CarStick or via the mobile phone data tether. Data usage is typically less than 2G of data a month.

I might have to reflash with same software, what is the manual SWDL process?

thanks

You will need firmware 0478 for the Amundsen system. There are lots of posting here on how to do this (I've even written a guide on how to do it).

Is this the Forrest guide under Experience of upgrading the firmware on Amunsden MIB2.5 system?

Do I just copy the sub folders or the whole software folder across

No selective folders the whole lot. If you get stuck, I'll try and help.
