Ignition problem

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

my Fabia MK2 1.6 Petrol having an ignition problem, the key is not turning to the cranking position.

It turns to the first two clicks and the dash lights up but the cranking position is stuck.

Steering lock is working fine, gear is also ok and not stuck and can move from P & N with no issue.

any idea with this problem?

I uploaded a video please check it

Thanks

Suggest you get the ignition lock replaced.

if the locks worn, won't take much to stop it turning.

It's not ideal by any means, but temp try WD40 to see if you can get it working.

Yeah that’s what we suspect, I don’t know if I can remove the barrel without removing the whole steering lock assembly though

I gave that a shot but still didn’t work

I know it might be a sucks eggs statement, but just spraying in WD and trying to turn might not be enough,

The key lifts levers etc as it goes in, so spray then work the key in and out etc....might take a few minutes of working in the WD40 / trying to turn etc

It turned to be the lock spring inside the  Steering lock assembly which prevents from cranking if the Engine is already running, just removed it 😄

now I need to be careful not to crank if the engine is running haha

Hi. Some time has passed buy, but anyways-how do you got the spring? Did you removed steering wheel?
